It’s been almost two years now since I began the journey that would have me losing roughly one-hundred pounds. At the end of the day, there was no great secret as to how I did it. I started out with about eight months of dieting along with working out five days a week. Almost a year off of my diet now, I’ve entered the realm of maintenance where I can eat pretty much whatever I want in the evening, as long as I eat my lunch salad and work out in the morning. Where is this going you might ask? It’s all leading back to my love of delicious tasty sweets, of which I didn’t partake in for an extended period of time. For years, every health, fitness, and wellness guru in the world has been telling me that if you limit your cravings for sweets and sugars they will even stop tasting as good as they used to and your craving will start to go away. I’ve also heard their haunting echo, telling me that if I start eating salads every day, I’ll start to love how they taste. Coming from someone who didn’t eat a single sweet for eight months and who has been eating salads every day for the last two years, I find this to be a lie. My pension for sweets and candies has never gone away and I still find that every salad I’ve ever eaten every day to be abhorrent. I digress. It is my love of sweets that leads me to the subject matter of this editorial, brand new handcrafted chocolate delights from Cloud 9 Confections a brand-new subsidiary brand of Love’s Oven. Cloud 9 Confections, for lack of better wording, blew my mind. While I knew that the genius chocolatiers and bakers at Love’s Oven had a heads up on how to properly Infuse cannabis-laden treats, this new lineup showcases some of the best chocolate I’ve ever had in my life (infused or not). I had the fortune of sampling pretty much the entire lineup of new Cloud 9 samples. This included Cloud 9 Confection’s Peanut Butter Cups, Cloud 9 Confection’s Salted Caramel Bites, and Cloud 9 Confection’s Tiramisu Chocolate Bar. Not only are these chocolates amazing, but they’re versatile. Variable dosage levels make items like Cloud 9 Peanut Butter Cups amazing starter edibles or low dose treats for people who are new to the Cannabis world or have a low tolerance (like myself). Utilizing fresh Belgian chocolate these handcrafted treats deserve a serious shout out. Cloud 9 Confections knows that my love for sweets will never diminish. The fact of the matter is, sweets are just the best delivery method for cannabis. To be blunt, even if there comes a day when cannabis-infused salads are a thing I’ll still be grabbing for the chocolate.

Cloud 9 Confections Peanut Butter Cups:
To start with, I’d like to tell you about the wonders of Cloud 9 Peanut Butter Cups. These are edible products that are crafted specifically for me I feel. As someone who can get a little bit of a heady tingle from ten milligrams of cannabis the dosage size of five milligrams of THC per cup is just about perfect (mostly because I get to eat both peanut butter cups). The versatility of having low dosage edibles becomes even more useful in individuals with even lower tolerances than myself. My mother, for example, likes to enjoy about two milligrams of THC every night before she goes to bed. In standard edible products with each piece containing ten milligrams of THC, she ended up chopping her cannabis-infused treats into pieces so small that she couldn’t even enjoy them. What’s the fun in that? With edible products like these Cloud 9 Peanut Butter Cups individuals who want to microdose small portions of THC can do so without feeling ripped off in the sweet tooth department. Knowing that ten to twenty milligrams is my golden zone, I cleared my afternoon plans and got ready to eat a couple of delicious peanut butter cups. I started by making a small surgical incision on the back of the bag. I’m a huge fan of this style of mylar bags. While they may not be resealable, they’re extremely tamper-resistant in the hands of children or pets. The small downside is that they do require a pair of scissors or a knife to get into. On the flipside, this can make them much easier for individuals who may have arthritic symptoms. As soon as I pierced the top, a rich milk chocolate aroma poured out combined with the slightest hint of sweet peanut butter. I carefully pulled one of the cups out and examined it. Emblazoned on the bottom was Cloud 9 Confection’s logo along with the MED required THC labeling. The structure, shape, and consistency of the outside surface put the store-bought peanut butter cups to shame. I carefully cut one of the peanut butter cups in half revealing a perfectly laid peanut butter core surrounded by an extremely even layering of Belgian milk chocolate. I decided I couldn’t wait any longer. As soon as the photos were snapped, I gleefully popped half of one of the peanut butter cups into my mouth. These are delicious peanut butter cups! The benefit of the low cannabis content truly shines through as well in the sense that I could hardly detect any flavor other than rich milk chocolate and smooth silky peanut butter. The consistency was as spot on as the flavor. After I ate both peanut butter cups and waited about 45 minutes the effects were perfect. Seeing as Cloud 9 uses a very standard extraction process, I was not surprised to find that the effect we’re fairly run of the mill. That is to say, I got extremely lazy, very giggly, and ordered an entire pepperoni and bacon pizza which I ate entirely to myself. For me, ten milligrams is just on the low end of what I usually like to consume. I could tell that this was on the low end simply because the effects of the high wore off much faster than they would if I had taken a larger dosage. Within a couple of hours, I was feeling pretty much back to normal. Other than maybe feeling a little down and out from eating an entire pizza to myself. Overall, if you’re looking for a low dosage solution for cannabis edibles or simply love sweets and want to be able to eat more of them and not get extremely high, these Cloud 9 Confections Peanut Butter Cups fit the bill.
Cloud 9 Confections Peanut Salted Caramel Bites:
Next up, I’ll talk a little bit about Cloud 9 Confections Peanut Salted Caramel Bites. Loaded with delicious peanuts, sweet salted caramel, soft nougat, and rich Belgian milk chocolate, if these treats sound like they’re reminiscent to one of your favorite store-bought chocolate bars, that’s because they are a wonderful clone, only better. Are they better because each of these individual Peanut Salted Caramel Bites comes loaded with ten milligrams of THC? Maybe. That doesn’t mean that the artisan-quality ingredients inside these treats don’t also put them a step above the store about equivalents. It was the next day, and I was ready for another afternoon of cannabis edible sampling. Having already choked down a thoroughly deplorable aforementioned daily salad, I decided I deserved to treat myself with a couple Cloud 9 Confections Peanut Salted Caramel Bites. I noticed that unlike the peanut butter cups, these salted caramel bites came in a small resealable tamper-resistant bag. I followed the instructions on where to pull. To give you an idea of how frustrating this style of packaging can be I literally pulled so hard that I ripped off half of the zipper-style seam from one side of the bag. Thusly defeating the purpose and ensuring the packaging would never be sealed again. Might I recommend scissors and some other form of tamper-resistant container if you plan on having leftover Peanut Salted Caramel Bites. Regardless of how I got them open, I was immediately rewarded with a very rich chocolate aroma. I would have pegged this smell for dark chocolate if that wasn’t contrary to the labeling on the front. I removed one of the bites and handled it for a moment. These are gorgeous little gems of chocolate. In tried-and-true fashion, I performed a little surgical procedure chopping one of the bites in half to reveal layers of nougat, peanut, and sweet, salty caramel. The aroma on the inside of the bite was sinful. I decided, since I like twenty milligrams of THC, I was going to eat a pair of these delicious nougat bites. As I slowly chomped into my first bite, everything from the consistency to the basic flavor was just like the store-bought equivalent. There was a little more to the flavor though. At this size, with this high of a concentration of THC, I could certainly tell that there was cannabis-infused inside these chocolates. This is a welcome hint of what you’re really eating and a welcome guest on the flavor train to my mouth. While not one to scoff at peanuts, salty caramel, and nougat I would have to say that the delicious Belgian milk chocolate is the highlight of these Cloud 9 Peanut Salted Caramel Bites. Within about a half hour I started to feel the brunt of the effects of the twenty milligrams I had consumed. I segued my laziness into an evening of sitting on the couch catching up on Marvel movies in preparation for Endgame later in the week. If you were worried that the munchies didn’t affect me this time, fret not. I was stricken with a mighty craving and ended up consuming a small mountain the fish tacos well before I normally would have eaten dinner. With the twenty milligrams I consumed, the effects were much more pronounced, and it was several hours before I felt sober again. I simply can’t deny how delicious these Cloud 9 Peanut Salted Caramel Bites really are. if you’re a fan of grocery store check-out equivalents (you know which ones I’m talking about) these caramel bites will not disappoint.
Cloud 9 Tiramisu Chocolate Bar:
Last, but certainly not least, I moved on to the Cloud 9 Confections Tiramisu Chocolate Bar. He doesn’t like tiramisu? I guess if you don’t like coffee you might not like tiramisu, but who doesn’t like coffee? As a sentient walking garbage can for food, I like everything. This makes me an ideal candidate for testing samples of food products. I started late in the afternoon for my third day of eating edibles in a row (tough life I know). I wasn’t overly stoked to see the same style container on the Tiramisu Bar as I’d seen on the caramel bites. This time, I was able to successfully open it in the way it was intended to be opened. I know bag packaging may seem like a silly thing to complain about, but as someone who personally knows elderly individuals who consume THC Edibles on a frequent basis, I know how hard it can be for some of them to get into certain styles of packaging. As soon as I opened up the top, one of the most delectable coffee and chocolate aromas I have ever experienced poured out. I can’t express how amazing this edible smells. If you like coffee and you like chocolate, you need to get yourself one of these Cloud 9 Confections Tiramisu Chocolate Bars. As I remove the bar, I discovered that the entire underside surface had been coated in a thin layering of espresso powder. While undeniably gorgeous and undeniably a nightmare to photograph on a white background, I was going to have to taste a couple of pieces to truly see what this tiramisu bar is all about. I broke off two pre-portioned ten-milligram squares and took a nibble of the first piece. If you ask me on the spot to describe how delicious that chocolate was, I would have been at a loss for words. Having had time to process how amazing it tastes, allow me to paint the picture. The outer dusting of the espresso is the first flavor to hit your tongue. This is followed by sweet milky rich chocolate with a uncanny supple consistency. When the flavor of cannabis should enter the picture, it simply does not. The unique juxtaposition of flavors that Cloud 9 has incorporated into these Tiramisu Bars eliminates all semblance of cannabis taste in the end product. This is the savoring kind of chocolate. I spent a good several minutes taking little nibbles off the edge knowing full well that this is one of the few times where I shouldn’t eat the entire chocolate bar, lest I face the consequences of getting too high. Even in the aftertaste (usually a dead giveaway for cannabis-infused products), I could not tell this was a marijuana-infused product. It was about 45 minutes after I finished eating the tiramisu portions that I started to feel a quite pronounced high. Whether it was an extraction from a different batch or simply the effects of the added espresso powder, the high I received from the Cloud 9 Tiramisu Chocolate Bar was a little bit more active and sativa-feeling than I am used to from most edible products. This unique high, in concert with the fact that this is one of the most amazing chocolate bars I’ve ever eaten in my life, will forever cement Cloud 9 Tiramisu Chocolate Bars in the ranks of my all-time favorite infused edibles. Simply put, I love this candy bar.
Knowing that cloud 9 Confections is a subsidiary of Love’s Oven I went into this review with the utmost expectations from these products and they did not disappoint. Time and time again the cannabis industry has proven to me that they can do as good a job as some of the finest chocolatiers in the world at crafting amazing edible products. As long as I’m still around, I can tell you that there’ll be a market for sweets like this for people like me. Despite all the fun I had sampling three edible products three days in a row, I needed to rest on the fourth day. That doesn’t mean that the tiramisu chocolate bar didn’t call to me. I would ignore its call to be consumed and instead take the higher road (or not higher road?) and eat a crappy salad. Until the day someone learns how to make a salad actually taste good, I’ll keep choking them down and then rewarding myself with delicious cannabis edibles. It all balances out, right?
