We’re slowly closing in on the two year mark for legal marijuana here in Colorado. If there’s a couple of things we’ve all learned from the last two years, it’s that recreational cannabis doesn’t have apocalyptic effects, and that regardless of the label as “medicinal” or “recreational,” you can’t negate the beneficial effects that marijuana can have on people suffering from a variety of ailments. It’s important as a recreational user or a medicinal patient to know what strains are going to affect you in what ways. When you find a strain with OG in the name, it’s fairly safe to assume you’re going to be looking at an indica dominant strain that should ideally help with appetite, anxiety, and insomnia. In the case of White OG, that package is exactly what you get. White OG is the combination of SFV OG and The White. As with all OG’s tracing their lineage back to OG Kush, SFV (San Fernando Valley) OG is an extremely potent indica-dominant strain. The White, is a very mysterious strain, which has almost no information on its background. What is known about The White is that it’s a high THC producing hybrid, which is aptly named “The White” for the number of trichomes produced by the flowering plant. White OG does its ancestors proud as a crystally white Indica strain that does everything an indica should do.
I mellowed out my day with White OG from The Station, a medical and recreational dispensary in Boulder, Colorado. You can pick up an eighth of White OG for $35. This heavy-hitting indica might be the perfect match for you if you’re looking for strain to induce appetite or simply a strain to chill out with.

White OG :: Appearance | Smell:
White OG is a strain that truly lives up to its name. As I removed a nugget from the jar, I was extremely impressed at how intact the trichomes were, giving the buds a pale hue and making them appear white. Besides the concentration of little crystally trichomes, I was ever more impressed by the number of dainty little orange hairs. Every square nanometer, down to the calyxes, appeared to be laden with little hairs just waiting to be combusted. White OG has an extremely unique scent to complement its stunning appearance. An uncanny sweetness is the first thing that hits the nose when you take a whiff of White OG. A familiar skunkiness follows with a musky dankness that you just know must be an OG. The final note is the most unique – a tart cheesy smell that I would almost equate to a soft white cheese with fruit in it. Overall, The White is a very charming looking and smelling strain.
White OG :: Smoke | Effect:
I loaded my favorite little Broncos themed pipe in celebration of the last nail-biter on Sunday, and lit up my hemp wick. This is a thick strain that definitely has some bite to it. The smoke is thick yet surprisingly clean tasting. Both the sweetness and the tart cheesiness manifest in the flavor, and left my mouth watering and my throat extremely tickly. After couching for a spell, White OG hit me like a ton of bricks. As I slowly drifted into floaty la-la-land, all I could think of was the creepy janitor from back in college telling me “If you don’t cough, you don’t get off.” I had indeed coughed; crestfallen that his advice was for once ringing true, I sat back and let the White OG really kick in. While the highlight of the strain might be the sleepy indica effects, the raw power was making me feel the sativa effects as well. I was giggly, I was happy, I was relaxed, I was sleepy, I was hungry, and I was calm. There just is no way to feel any more contented than I did after smoking White OG.
Let me emphasize again, this is a powerful strain, not just from its body high, but also from the high THC content. Weighing in at 26% Total THC, although hypothetically an indica, the strain came off to me as being a hybrid in its undeniably robust effects. While it may be on the harsher end of many of the strains I’ve tried in the past, the effects are completely worth it. This is the perfect chilling out strain. While it might put you to sleep or maybe make you eat all the food you had saved for the next week, I don’t think there is any way you won’t have a good day when you smoke White OG. The indica aftereffects are miraculously soothing, and the sativa aspects bring a lot of giggling and fun into the experience. If you want a strain that really saddles the best of both worlds, I would recommend in a heartbeat that you go snag yourself some White OG; the mellow body high is the perfect accouterment to doing any activity as long as there isn’t too much “activity” involved.
