Cookies & Cream : Strain Review

Cookies & Cream : Strain Review
Chronic Therapy Marijuana Strain Review Wheat Ridge Dispensary Review

Sometimes you need to stop for a minute and enjoy the best things in life like a big old bag of deliciously-trademarked cookies filled with cream – you know which ones I’m talking about. If you’re looking for a strain pairing with your tasty treats, why not compliment them with some Cookies & Cream? Cookies & Cream is a sinfully sweet hybrid strain that is not only the perfect accoutrement to sweets, but also has enough power in the THC department to leave you slack-jawed staring at the sky. What makes Cookies & Cream pack such a wallop? It’s genetics time. Cookies & Cream is the child strain of Starfighter and Mystery Cookies. Starfighter is a pretty cut and dry (then burn) strain, with a very easily recognizable lineage behind its indica-dominant genetics. The direct parents are Tahoe Alien and Lemon Alien Dawg. One step further back on the tree and you can see that the Kush family plays a huge role in the ancestry behind Starfighter, and with Cookies & Cream (1 of 3)two “alien” strains for parents, how could you ask for a better name? As its Lemon Alien Dawg parent would imply, there is also a line of Chem Dawg in its past, which is part of what gives Cookies & Cream the funk in its smell. Thanks to the Kush family inheritance, Starfighter is a primarily indica strain and is a very effective nighttime smoke. The other side of Cookies & Cream is shrouded in mystery as the name Mystery Cookies would imply. The internet usually knows just about everything when it comes to strain research time, but with Mystery Cookies, everyone everywhere seems to be clueless. What little is known about Mystery Cookies is that the strain in some way is an offshoot of Girl Scout Cookies, and that genetically the strain is a hybrid that leans sativa. Since Mystery Cookies is an offshoot of Girl Scout Cookies, it’s a safe bet that there is a good amount of Kush in their background genetics as well, making Cookies & Cream a very Kush heavy strain.

Chronic Therapy is one of my favorite places in town to score some buds, and their daily discounts and deals are awesome. Cookies & Cream :: Appearance | Smell:

I started my journey with a big ol’ whiff from the jar. Cookies & Cream is sweet smelling – I mean crazy sweet smelling. If you ever have the joy of sampling some of this amazing chronic, I’m sure you’ll react just like I did, by shoving your nose in the jar and keeping it there for as long as possible. After the initial sweetCookies & Cream (2 of 3) has worn off, you start to pick up a few more of its other scents. The next odor that really stood out for me was a very distinctive pine smell, which also had a hint of limey tartness to it as well. As much as I would like to say I detected other notes from my olfactory adventure, it kept coming back to the sweetness; after all, shouldn’t a strain that’s called Cookies & Cream smell outrageously sweet? I was finally able to get my nose away from the jar for a long enough time to actually look at the nuggets within – oh boy were they crystally and dense. I poured out the mid-size nuggets into my palm and scrutinized them for a little while. Each nugget was caked in trichomes, and I’m not exaggerating, many of the nuggets had streaks of pure white in the nooks and crannies where the trichomes had settled. The structure on the individual buds was long and lanky, making them look quite a bit like a sativa despite being a hybrid strain.

Cookies & Cream :: Smoke | Effect:

I shredded up some nuggets in my grinder and as impressed at how voluminous Cookies & Cream gets when it’s ripped up from its dense little buds. I spread my green bounty out into a large bowl and proceeded with the best part of any review. The initial smoke was extremely smooth and the flavor that was first imparted was a pine taste. Despite the heavy Kush heritage, I never really got any of that dankly familiar Kush taste. I was also stunned when I didn’t taste any of the sweetness which was by far the winning smell. The pine really did convey itself beautifully into the flavor of the smoke, and along with a little bit of lime flavor and the fact that I was combustingCookies & Cream (3 of 3) plant matter, gave me a really nostalgic campfire taste in my mouth. I couldn’t put my finger on what made Cookies & Cream so remarkably smooth, but I’d like to think that it must be the “cream” in the name that did it. I didn’t have to wait long for the nigh-overwhelming high from Cookies & Cream to hit me. It wasn’t entirely unexpected considering that the most recent batch of Cookies & Cream tested at an astonishing 28.08% THC. I sat back and became one with the couch. While Cookies & Cream is a hybrid by genes, it hit me like an indica. While I wasn’t completely immobilized, I certainly wasn’t in any rush to go do anything or, for that matter, move. I simply sat and whipped out the old cellphone to lackadaisically play some word games and peruse some news article, trying my damndest to avoid the depressing ones (so most of them). The effects were fairly prolific and I found myself in a stupor for the better part of an hour. Much to my surprise, I never was faced with the munchies during my session, and the only real side-effect that I felt was mouth as parched as the Sahara. Trust me though, not feeling hungry didn’t stop me from eating the cookies I had bought to photograph the weed with.

Overall ::

Who doesn’t love some Cookies & Cream? It only took me one puff to become enamored with this heavy hitting hybrid that left me happily stuck on the sofa. While the high conveyed by Cookies & Cream hit me mostly like an indica, that doesn’t mean that I didn’t have any creative juices flowing. If you, unlike me, are capable of writing or painting or anything creative for that matter when stoned, I can see Cookies & Cream being a good aid to get you sitting down and focusing on your work. Even though I didn’t feel sleepy from smoking Cookies & Cream, my first session was in the middle of the day, and I can very easily see this strain functioning as a sleep aid if I had smoked it before bedtime. If you are looking for a perfect mellow-you-out strain that won’t make you feel like an idiot, then Cookies & Cream is the perfect choice for you. So go ahead and grab yourself a big glass of milk, put on your pajamas, and put some cartoons on the television; it’s Cookies & Cream time!#JessetheGrove
